Our History

The founders of VADA (Vent Assisted Design Assembly) began in the commercial
roofing industry at ages 21, 22, and 25, respectively. And they never left the industry.
Many of those years were spent installing large commercial roofs throughout the U.S.
The roofs span from Seattle to Miami, Long Island to Los Angeles. One corporate
account built 250,000-square-foot warehouses across the U.S. VADA founders roofed
them.

During those years of commercial roofing, one thing became very apparent: Wind is a
roof’s biggest foe. The challenge of countering Bernoulli’s Principle became paramount.
At the time, there were two vented roof options. They installed both. They observed.
One thing became clear: The two existing vented roof systems performed perfectly IF
everything was perfect. “IF the air seal was perfect.” “IF the roof was never punctured.”
“IF.” But, in the real roofing world, “IFs” seldom happen. What if a roofer was having a
bad day and failed to get the air seal perfect? What if the roof was cut? What if??
As they continued to observe the vented roof systems, problems would occur. They
began to understand that the “margin of error” for the vented roof accepted norm was
quite small. Everything had to be perfect. A little wind infiltration would wreak havoc.
And they began to challenge the practice of venting the wind vortex of a building.
Scientific research proves that roof vents work best in nice, clean, in-line air. But the
wind in the vortex is turbulent, rolling, inconsistent air. Why place a vent there? The
long-accepted norm was wrong.

Therefore, VADA founders coined the phrase: “Don’t Vent the Vortex.”
The VADA Vented Roof design doesn’t vent the vortex.
The VADA Vented Roof design doesn’t vent the vortex. The result is a vented roof that is absolutely “bulletproof.” Some vented roofs rely on a 3” to 40” perimeter. VADA’s perimeter design is one of the most robust in the commercial roof industry. VADA’s design removes the “what ifs” from the vented roof design.

Our perimeter is the entire ASCE7 design perimeter. VADA’s design removes the “what ifs” from the vented roof design.

That is why we confidently, honestly say that not one VADA Vented Roof has ever been
damaged by a wind event. Ever. The science is real. The design is unique. And the
results are perfect.

We are quite proud of our history. But we also look forward to our future.
